MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)
Introduction
The Department of Business Administration, through the Graduate School / Graduate Research Centre, offers a Master of Business Administration degree, extending over a period of two (2) years. The MBA degree program is the most prestigious and popular graduate degree programme in the university. The objective of the MBA program is to give students the opportunity to prepare for executive careers in business or in institutions that use business techniques and policies in management and administration. The program meets this objective by being broad in nature and aimed at general competence in overall management and administration. Our MBA is designed to meet the highest international standards, is of high quality and has direct relevance to the real world. The MBA is designed for students from a wide range of backgrounds including (but not limited to) healthcare, engineering, Agriculture, social sciences, education, and business.
In the final year of study, the candidates are expected to undertake research in partial fulfillment of their awards, where they are free to choose either Plan A or Plan B research orientations.
Master of Business Administration Plan - A
Plan A research takes the positivistic, theory based, scientific academic research orientation, with major emphasis on contributing to academic knowledge in the field of study
Master of Business Administration Plan - B
Plan B research is a form of applied, practical, case based management research, geared towards solving a practical management problem.
Admission Requirements
- A Second Class University Degree of Makerere University or its equivalent from a recognised University
OR - A Postgraduate Diploma of Makerere University Business School or its equivalent from a recognised Institution.
OR - Possession of appropriate professional qualifications like ACCA, CPA, CIM, ICSA, etc.
Admission Test
Candidates will be required to take and pass a written admission test. Students who do not sit this test will have passed the General Management Admission Test (GMAT) with at least 520 points.
Exemptions
Candidates with a Makerere University Business School Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration of at least Second Class Lower, or with a mark of 60% and above may be exempted from Part I of the Masters of Business Administration Plan A or Plan B.
Duration; Four (4) Semesters
Tuition fees; Ug. Shs. 2,300,000/= or US$ 3,000 (for foreign students)
